what is LIFE EXPLORED
Life Explored is a group-based course that explores the spiritual wisdom of the Christian faith. The course focuses on the human search for happiness and God's place in the world. There is no fee or charge to attend the course.
who is the course for
The course is for anyone open to finding out more about Christian spirituality. It is an open course for everyone regardless of age, culture, gender or sexual orientation. It is also open to non-English speakers as the video teaching can have subtitles in several major languages.
How the course works
Life Explored is a 7-week course involving video teaching, group discussion, tea/coffee and dessert. The course is offered during the day and evening at the St Matts Community Hall in Botany. Each session goes for approximately 75 minutes. A typical session looks like this:
- Film 1 (10 minutes)
- Discussion 1 (5 minutes)
- Bible Reading (2 minutes)
- Film 2 (15 minutes)
- Bible Reading (3 minutes)
- Discussion 2 (25 minutes)
- Sunday October 7th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday October 14th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday October 21st 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday October 28th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday November 4th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday November 11th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
- Sunday November 18th 4:00 - 5:15 PM
what is expected of you
You are encouraged to ask or answer questions, or you can just sit and listen. You won't be asked to pray or sing. There will be no pressure to believe or make a commitment during the course.
Who runs the course
The course is funded by the people of St Matts. The course facilitator is Hendry Wan. Hendry is a long-standing member of St Matts and has over 20 years of experience as a course-trainer and discussion group leader. Hendry prides himself in creating comfortable learning environments for adults to enjoy. In his professional life, Hendry is a heritage conservation specialist and urban policy strategist.
